Black Capira
In 2013 some auratus came in from Panama labeled as 'Black Capira,' indicating that they were collected in or around Capira, Panama. These auratus are black with subtle small markings of very dark green. These frogs were collected near Capira, Panama, a region with highly variable and intergrade populations of auratus and therefore don't likely represent a population of solid black colored auratus, but are likely just solid colored individuals from amongst a variably patterned population. This hypothesis is corroborated by breeders who have offspring from this morph that display variable patters of black, brown, and green. Other black auratus from imports in 2010, 2011, and other years are likely representative of the same population.
